The Italian language division was established in 2002 within the language Department of the academy and in 2006 the division became an independent department when the language school was founded. And in 2007 the first batch was graduated. Since its establishment, the department has been taught and discussed by professors from Italy according to a cooperation agreement between Libya and Italy. The Department grants the higher leave (master's) in teaching the Italian language. The Academy is the only educational institution in the country that awards this degree in the Italian language. Due to the fact that all the faculty members of the department are foreigners and due to the circumstances in the country, all the faculty members of the Department have left, which led to the temporary suspension of the Department's study programs. Currently, the school is seeking to contract new members and reopen and develop the Department's academic programs.

1. Preparing professors who are able to teach the Italian language in Libyan universities. 
2. Preparing qualified graduates in the field of Italian language to do jobs that require Italian language skills in various state institutions.
3. Encourage the study of linguistic issues and problems related to the Italian language and try to find solutions to them. 
4. Development of scientific research skills in the use and teaching of the Italian language. 
5. Developing the knowledge and skills of the Department's faculty members and informing them of the latest developments in the field of teaching the Italian language.
